Club AGM
Last Thursday the Club held it's AGM.
First off I would like to sa ythat everyone should be most appreciative of the the effort and energy the officials lead by President Keith Soper invested in the club throughout 2010. The club calendar delivered great racing throughout the year and all the major events were very well run. The Interclub racing reached a higher level of participation and was well worth the trip north. Building on the Interclub racing was a strengthening of the club relationship with our Bundaberg colleagues and the three big events in Bundaberg, Canelands, 4BU Track spectacular & Coral Isles Crit (sadly washed out) were good examples of that stronger relationship.
The Straits to Straits was an excellent event to get the road season off to a good start and the Tin Can Bay Race and Biggenden Bash were also highlights. I think the Masters Cycling was the stand-out event and the feedback from those who attended was extremely positive.
Another legacy of Keith's leadership is the agreement to participate in the State Teams Racing. This will provide the boost the Hyne Criterium needs to re-establish it on the state racing calendar. The road race organised for the the State Teams Racing on the following Sunday will be another great event for the region.
Thanks to all the volunteers for their support throughout 2010 as well.
To the present or recent present. Thanks to all who invested the time to attend the AGM. So far club membership numbers are down but we had a good attendance for the AGM.
In essence the majority of positions were filled. However the position of President remains vacant. If you or a colleague is interested in taking on this role for the following year please reply to this e-mail. It is vital we have this position filled. There year there are many important decisions that need to be made concerning the future direction of the club. It is the year when the lease renewal for the track & hall has to be presided over, we need to apply for significant grants to advance the club's capacity to conduct year round racing and the club needs to continue to grow and flourish.
Importanly in the short term if the position is not filled there can be no Racing!
